Messi & Ronaldo Back in Action
Football has finally returned to our screens after several months off due to the global pandemic, and sports betting is set to be booming with the top leagues (asides Ligue 1) all back on this month.
Messi and Ronaldo have both been back among the action, however, one player was in fantastic form, while the other struggled to get into the game and missed a big chance to score.
Juventus vs AC Milan – Coppa Italia Semi-final
Cristiano Ronaldo was back in action for Juventus against AC Milan, in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final match, but, he did not have the best game. Ronaldo failed to convert a penalty after Andrea Conti was penalised for a slight handball in the box in the 13th minute, and shortly after Ante Rebic was sent off for a dangerous challenge on Danilo.
Despite playing against ten men for the vast majority of the game, Juventus failed to break the deadlock, and Ronaldo only managed a measly 5 rating on Squawka (the worst rating in the Juventus team).
Ronaldo will be hoping to improve on his poor performance as Juventus travel to Bologna next Monday as they try to win yet another Serie A title. Juventus are currently top of the table with 63 points but are closely followed by Lazio (62 points). However, third-place Inter Milan are back on 54 points and will have to do something special to get back into the title race.
Mallorca vs Barcelona – La Liga Match Day 28
On Barcelona’s return to top-flight football, they smashed Mallorca 4-0 on their visit to the Son Moix Stadium, with four goals from four different scorers. Barcelona extended their lead a the top of La Liga, starting the game like there had been no break whatsoever.
After just 2 minutes, Arturo Vidal opened the scoring, and Martin Braithwaite added a second in the 37th minute thanks to a delightful Messi assist. In the second half, Messi assisted another goal, with Jordi Alba the scorer, and then went on to score himself in the 93rd minute thanks to a Suarez assist. Overall, Messi had a fantastic return to football, with two assists and a goal while also ensuring he has now scored 20+ goals in 12 consecutive La Liga seasons!
Barcelona currently sits in 1st place in La Liga on 61 points with Real Madrid just behind on 59 points, while third-place Sevilla is on 51 points. If Messi and Co continue to display such brilliant performances, they will be on course to win their 27th title and the fifth in the last six years.
