Footballers That Play Online Poker

It’s hard to find a more popular casino game than poker. It is therefore not surprising that all layers of society are interested in it, including sportsmen. Casinos are taking advantage of this and no longer hesitate to use their services to promote the game. The sportsmen that are most in-demand in this area are footballers, and they are not the only ones. Often, clubs are also invited. Their participation is far more effective than comparison sites. So, which football players cannot imagine their existence without poker?

Professionals football players and poker enthusiasts

There are so many of them, we will just limit ourselves to the most famous ones. The players on this list do not advertise poker sites but could be considered professional poker players in their own right.

  • Teddy Sheringham

When a British player is awarded the Order of the British Empire for his sporting career, the least that can be said is that he was talented. Edward Paul Sheringham, aka Teddy Sheringham, is an ex-English professional that football fans are not about to forget. He began his career at 24 in Millwall, where he showed incomparable talent. From 1983 to 1991, he became the club’s second-highest ever goal scorer with 111 goals. He then joined Nottingham Forest in the top flight, then Tottenham Hotspur and finally Manchester United, where his attacking talents did not go unnoticed. Winner of the FA Cup, the Intercontinental Cup and the Champions League Cup, Teddy Sheringham ended his professional football career in 2008 at 42. He did not leave the world of football altogether as he immediately began a coaching career.

This biography of Sheringham is known to all football fans, but poker enthusiasts will add more laurels to this sportsman. In particular, Sheringham has been a star at the WSOP Europe (World Series of Poker). Not everyone can finish fifth on the EPT (European Poker Tour).

  • Vikash Dhorasoo

He may not be as popular as the previous player, but he is one of the best-attacking midfielders in French football. From 1993 to 2007, he played for Le Havre AC, Olympique Lyonnais, Bordeaux, AC Milan, Paris SG and Livorno Calcio, respectively. He retired in 2007 after a brilliant football career and is now embarking on an equally brilliant poker career. To understand how impressive this is when researching his person, one can find as many sites that talk about Vikash Dharasoo the football player as those that talk about him only as a poker player. He’s one of those who wouldn’t need to visit a reputable site like Beat The Fish’s review to discover new poker sites worthy of interest. In fact, he’s more likely to write an article there to guide novices.

And the others…

On the list of players or ex-players capable of giving poker lessons, we can also mention C├ędric Hengbart, Bernard Mendy, Tony Cascarino, Thomas Brolin or Jan Sorensen. The latter is a real poker star. His football career was not as successful as that of his predecessors. Unfortunately, he was forced to leave football after a bad knee injury. But in poker, he achieved feats that none of the previous players have achieved so far. To prove this, it is enough to mention that he owns two World Series of Poker bracelets. Everything suggests that for many footballers, the desire to compete for increases with time.

What do you think? Have your say…

So who's the best?
