Messi Breaks 300 La Liga Goals Barrier
Earlier this evening, Lionel Messi reached yet another famous goalscoring landmark in the colours of Barcelona. After surpassing Telmo Zarra’s all-time La Liga goalscoring record of 251 La Liga goals last season – a record which had stood for 59 years – Leo tonight reached number 300 (and 301) against Sporting Gijon.
Messi passed up the opportunity to reach the landmark number on Sunday evening when he controversially opted to tap his penalty for Suarez to score instead.
That decision felt justified tonight as goal number 300 was instead a finely struck left foot curler from outside of the box – much more worthy of such a landmark!
LIONEL MESSI hits another famous landmark – 300 LA LIGA GOALS!!He's the first player to reach that landmark in Spain's top flight. What a player.
