Who’s Richer – Messi or Ronaldo? The 2015 Goal Rich List
We can debate all day about who the better player is, but who’s on top when it comes to the footballing rich list? Is it Messi or Ronaldo? Goal.com have recently released their annual study of active footballers’ wealth for 2015. The study is based on income streams including salary and endorsements and all of the information is sourced from public and reputable sources.
For the second year in a row, it is Ronaldo that tops the footballing rich list, with an incredible personal wealth of €210m. This has been boosted by bonuses for winning the Champions League, the Club World Cup as well as the Ballon d’Or.
The results of Goal’s study highlights Ronaldo’s considerable off-field income, as Messi actually has the edge in terms of salaries. According to the BBC, Lionel Messi earns a massive €20,800,000 per year, whereas Cristiano Ronaldo earns €18,200,000 per year.
