Bumper Breakdown of Messi’s 500 Career Goals

Barcelona may be in free fall after losing their fourth game in just 16 days last night (and off the back of a record breaking 39 game unbeaten run, too), but amongst the disarray, Lionel Messi did still manage to reach another famous landmark in his glittering goalscoring career, as he notched goal number 500 for club and country.

Messi hadn’t scored or assisted for Barcelona in 5 full games, one of the most barren spells of his career, so although he couldn’t salvage a result for his team, this is at least one mounting pressure that has now been alleviated.

Leo will no doubt be in no mood for celebrating this achievement at present, but it’s too big a landmark for us to let pass by. So in this post, you will find a bumper collection of varied statistical breakdowns of Messi’s 500 career goals; from his favourite opponents to his favourite time to score.

All of the below stats are correct as of 18th April 2016. And by the way, Ronaldo broke the 500 career goals barrier in October 2015, earlier this season.

Messi’s 500 Goals – The Key Stats
